NOW PAC Announces the Endorsement of Sara Feigenholtz to Replace Rahm Emanuel
President Obama has tapped Representative Rahm Emanuel to serve as Chief of Staff in the administration.
Illinois Representative Sara Feigenholtz has stepped into a crowded primary field to run for the open seat in the 5th District. Feigenholtz is a women's rights leader and her victory will add another progressive voice to the 111th Congress. As a new member of Congress, Feigenholtz will be committed to ensuring the passage and implementation of an economic recovery plan that will put people back to work in good jobs and help to improve our economy. Feigenholtz is speaking out in agreement with President Obama that a recovery plan must immediately invest in projects that put people back to work and include efforts to modernize our health care system and to promote the development of alternative energy.
In the Illinois House, Feigenholtz sponsored legislation to give tax relief for working families throughout Illinois. In Congress, Feigenholtz will continue to make sure middle class families are at the center of any plan to stimulate our economy. Another priority for Feigenholtz is making sure health care is a right for all and not a privilege for a few. As Chair of the Human Services Appropriations Committee in the Illinois House, Feigenholtz was the Chief Sponsor, along with State-Senator Obama on a bill to expand access to quality, affordable healthcare for thousands of working families.
Feigenholtz has a track record of working to improve the lives of children by ensuring access to comprehensive health care for every child in Illinois. Feigenholtz also was the chief sponsor of a bill to promote stem cell research to help find cures for juvenile diabetes, Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's.
Serving 14 years in the legislature, Feigenholtz has proven to be a strong advocate for women and families and to ensure women's health care is a priority. Prior to holding elected office, Feigenholtz was a small business owner and a fund-raiser for progressive causes. If elected, Feigenholtz will be a champion and a leader for women in the 111th Congress.
